I will preface this with the fact that I believe all people become more stupid when they enter into a relationship. Why? Because relationships require a fine balance of head and heart. Sometimes it’s hard to bring rational thought into an emotional minefield. But still, relationships cause some of the most blatent acts of stupidity I’ve ever seen.
Take subject A, I’ll call her Bess for the sake of protecting the stupid, she’s a friend of a friend and has been in a on/off relationship for many years now. Mr. Right Enough and Bess have even been at several points engaged (and broken off). During the last breakup Bess went with Mr. Younger Sexier for awhile. When Mr. Right Enough and Bess made up, she dumped Mr. Younger Sexier and refused to call him again.
Then, Mr. Right Enough hears Mr. Younger Sexier on the answering machine asking why Bess won’t call him. What does Bess tell Mr. Right Enough? She lies! Stupid girl. At least she should have said, “I was dating him when were were broken up, but haven’t seen him since we got back together.” Instead she makes some lame (obviously false) lie that causes Mr. Right Enough to doubt her truthfulness even more.
Like I said, stupid.
