Adult blues…

This is not a new topic for sure, but one I was discussing with my friend the other night. Being adult sometimes sucks. Don’t get me wrong I like the freedom of eating ice cream for breakfast or staying up and watching the TV programs I *wanted* to watch as a pre-teenager, but there’s just some parts I wish I could trade in.

Like bills. Who knew when you were a kid that you had to pay for lights. I mean, how crazy is that?

Or work. I really think we should get summers off. Just like school. This whole working and getting two weeks vacation is for the birds.

Or dressing! Where’s all the cool clothes kids get to wear. Dull, drab and so not fab is what most adults wear. Where’s the neon greens and fun pictures of smiling flowers? Or the ability to wear a cartoon character without looking like a housemom.

And toys? Remember when the biggest worry you had was what toy you were getting for Christmas. Those were the days. Sure, I have toys as an adult, but they cost about 100x’s more than my desired Barbie or My Little Pony did when I was a kid.

That all said I really like being an adult. Just sometimes I wish some of the drawbacks were gone.

Hee! Just get a job where you have summedrs off and it’s all good! Of course there’s a ton of other crappy issues you have to deal with (like testing and grading and making sure you have the right things for the kids and buying all of your own equipment, etc)… But summers off! Woo!

Nice new place you have here, I really need to get out more!

I touched on this issue tonight. I spent last night hanging out with kids. It was so much fun and really brought things into perspective. Enjoying life in the moment is just as important as planning for the future!
