Day 12 – Whatever Tickles Your Fancy

I’ve been addicted to Audible for a couple months now and loving all the Doctor Who content on there. So I thought for this I’d point out some of my favorites.

Nothing O’Clock by Neil Gaiman

I mean, just the fact that it’s by Neil Gaiman should make it an insta-buy. The story revolves around a genuinely creepy idea, what if the Time Lords had locked up someone, but weren’t around to make sure they stayed locked up? The narrator, Peter Kenny, gets the atmosphere of the story down really well and it’s got great characterization for both the 11th Doctor and Amy Pond.

Day of the Cockroach by Steve Lyons

Okay, this one is a bit gross because – hey it’s about giant cockroaches. But it’s also a really clever locked-room mystery of sorts and lots of great twists and turns. What makes this one of my favorites is it’s read by Arthur Darvill (aka Rory) and he has the inflections of both Matt and Karen down extremely well. It made me laugh more than once.

Dead Air by James Goss

Read by David Tennant, this adventure takes you aboard a pirate radio ship at sea during the 1960s. The monster is amazing, the reading is fantastic and the ending is a bit heartbreaking – everything you want from an “episode” of Doctor Who. Really one of my faves.

There’s a ton more and my Audible account is full of them, so go check them out for yourself if you haven’t already. I linked their audible pages below each picture.
