This one time at zombie camp…

Last Monday I got to be a background extra for a 360 indie horror film. My old (and amazing) boss Kim Evey invited me (and any friends I wanted to bring along) to participate. It was a blast.

It’s not my first rodeo being an extra. Lisa and I got to be background for an airport in the short film EMIT and I even got one line in the indie film Bread & Butter (thanks to my awesome friend Kat who backed the Kickstarter). The one thing that most people may not know about being on set is it’s extremely boring. A lot of your time is spent sitting around and twiddling your thumbs until they’re ready for you to do something. Then, when you do something – you do it fifty times. For EMIT that meant a lot of walking back and forth with a suitcase. Again and again and again.

So, if you’re going to be an extra – bring a friend! Anastasia and I had a blast on set. We made about 1,000 zombie jokes. One of my favorite parts of being a zombie on set was the amount of selfies that were taken. EVERYONE after wardrobe and make up was busy snapping selfies (myself included).

All in all, a great experience. Even though I didn’t get home until 5am on Tuesday… and it took three days to get the paint out of my left ear. I can’t wait to get on set again.
