I will agree that TV for kids has grown leaps and bounds. I love shows like Dora the Explorer, Blues Clues and others that teach valuable, educational lessons and make it fun.

This does not, however, replace books.

Gosh. READ people.

If you don’t know about Flat Stanely it’s a school project based off the book “Flat Stanley”. Basically it’s kind of like a penpal, a kid sends you Stanley, you write about what he does with you, about your town, etc.

It’s a fun project. I’m going out later today and taking some more pictures. I hope to finish the Flat Stanley book mid-this-next week. He needs to be back by the 20th.

Hear that? My stomach keeps going HUNGRY!

Now, while this is good for Scott, it’s also good for podcasting and writers in general. The publishing world doesn’t take self-publishing seriously in any form and podcasting they don’t take seriously at all. Since pod-books are awesome, we want to show them what an impact they have on sales and such.

So please, buy Scott Sigler’s “Ancestor” today. And lets rush the charts and show them that we enjoy our podcasts, self-made audio books and content outside of mainstream media. If Scott’s book get that attention I think you’ll see more people like JC Hutchins and writers who normally wouldn’t have a chance getting published.

Clicky here for the link to buy the book.

In His Image is the next step for those who have read The Purpose Driven Life. Following the Life Purpose of Mission, this book explores God’s great love for humanity from every book of the Bible.

From the creation of Genesis to the culmination in Revelation, God’s love shines through every page. Never is this ever clearer than in the times of Israel’s great betrayal of their God. His passionate pursuit of His children can be heard dripping from his voice as He calls them (and us by proxy) back to His shelter and protection.

This book was written …

• To convince the reader of God’s intense and immense love for them;

• To encourage the reader to reach out to the God who is passionately in love with them;

• To strengthen the reader’s faith in God’s compassion; and

• To motivate the reader to share the love of God with every person they meet. It is very clear God loves people of all races and ethnicities. Therefore, whenever appropriate to the passage of the day, emphasis is made on the issue of racial reconciliation around God’s love. His love becomes the motivation for evangelism and for community.

In each daily devotional …

• There is a Biblical Scripture they are encouraged to read;

• There is a passage of Scripture to read in the devotional itself;

• There is the devotional to read which focuses the reader on a single thought, broken into two, three or four practical ideas they can utilize that day in their lives; and

• There is a thought to take with the reader each day which summarizes the theme concerning God’s great love for them.

I devoured Lemony Snicket‘s A Series of Unfortunate Events earlier this summer and was mad when I reached book 12 to find out that I had to wait until Oct 13th for the final book “The End”.

My waiting is now over as I hold in my hands (well more accurately on my desk) a copy of “The End”. Book 13, the final installment of this dark and dreary tale of three orphans vs. the world! Seriously though, the series is amazing and I really enjoy it.

I also picked up The Gothic Archies’ CD that came out today also “The Tragic Treasury”, which is filled with 15 songs inspired by the books.

I’m a happy little Snicket fan. More info on The End and Lemony Snicket can be found in this article.
